Full-Time Program

  Introduction

The Howza has an intensive four year program for men and women. Upon completion of the courses, the student will earn the equivalent of a B.A. degree in the Arabic Language and Islamic Studies. During the first two years there is a heavy emphasis on developing a familiarity with the Arabic Language, its grammar and the proper recitation of the Holy Qur`an. A strong foundation in the Arabic Language is essential because the Holy Qur`an, the Hadith, and the primary sources of Islamic teachings are found in the Arabic Language.

The Howza welcomes those who are interested in having intensive Islamic Studies, regardless their language, race, gender, nationality, and background.

 ♦ Requirements

Applicants for the full-time program should possess the following requirements:

·      At least a Diploma degree (or an official equivalent)

·      Between the ages of 16 and 25

·      Successfully completed the Howza summer program

·      Submit all required documents

·      Two letters of recommendation

·      Full-financial support

The applicant must be able to prove that he or she can support himself or herself for the full duration of the program. There are a limited number of small grants available for deserving students to help towards his/her personal expenditures.

 ♦ Academic Curriculum

The Howza provides curriculum designed to clarify the vision of Islam, revitalize its traditions of learning, and prepare future generations of Muslims to understand, interact with, and contribute creatively to Muslim culture and civilization in North America and throughout the world.
